Just to see what could be done with 2 pounds of French roast coffee, half a case of Black Stone Mountain cabernet, and a kilo tin of Dunhill's Red Virgina Flake tobacco, I have added 38 new names to my Silversmiths site. Ah, the staples of life.

I need to add a grateful thank you to our member Bascall for sharing a tasty batch of New England vital records.

It seems like there's bound to be a connection here somehow: "The Compendium of American Genealogy, Vol. VII" states that in 1855 William Bacall Pear, silversmith, married Lucy Augusta Hesseltine in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

The Cambridge, Massachusetts City Directory for 1859 shows Edward and William Pear together as silversmiths at 290 Main, possibly father and son.

Yes, William Bacall Pear was the son of Edward and the nephew of his father's partner, Thomas Bacall.

In 1861 Boston City Directory, William Pear is a silversmith at 4 Court and is partners with Henry A Mitchell in the firm Mitchell & Pear.

In the 1882 Boston City Directory Pear & Bro are at 27 Avery, but Thomas Pear is the only member of the firm the shows up separately at the 27 Avery address. Mrs Thomas Bacall is listed in the same directory under silversmiths at 7 Avery.

Edward married Jane Bacall on 31 October 1838.
