A library of silver references was produced on the forum a while back. I do not recall whether those references were divided into those using line drawings from those using photo images. If not would it be possible to identify only those using photo images? References using line drawings have lead to more misattributions than any other factor that I can think of. And even then photos have their limitations. Of course the best is to have actual items with the silversmiths die/dies and this would include items stamped at different stages throughout the life of the die. Talk about an expensive and lifelong project. [This message has been edited by argentum1 (edited 04-30-2008).] IP: Logged |
