An interesting gentleman in the silversmithing and watchmaking trade was Joseph Henry who was apprenticed with his cousin William Selkirk to John F Doty. Joseph went on to firmly establish himself in the field of physics. Electromagnetism was his speciality to the extent that the unit of inductance, henries, was named after him. IP: Logged |
