A few days ago we were brought a teaspoon for repair. It is very old style and at first I thought it was plated because it says "Rogers" on the back, but it turned out to be silver, coin I suspect. Was this the same Rogers that later was so prolific with plated ware? middletom IP: Logged |

Some of the Rogers were silversmiths who later went into plating. Others never became platers. Trying to sort out the Rogers is like geneology of a large royal family. Does it say anything other than Rogers? IP: Logged |

Posting a photo is more helpful in identification than words only. Shape of the letters, whether there is a pellet, additional marks(pseudo marks or other devices) etc are all considered when identifying makers. Shape of the spoon is always helpful by giving a rough idea of age.time period. Besides that we would all like to see the spoon if possible. IP: Logged |

The spoon is marked only "Rogers". I will attempt to photogragh it and put it on the site. It's been a while since I last posted a picture, so I'll probably have to read Scott's instructions again. middletom IP: Logged |

Rogers is such a common name that there must have been makers of coin silver named Rogers completely unaffiliated with the clan that went on to silver-plating fame. Unfortunately I think I lost my coin marks books in my last move, so I can't really look it up to see what Rogers fellows were out there making coin silver. IP: Logged |
