Here is an interesting little cream jug (4 1/2") marked Crosby Hunnewell & Morse in a semi-circle under which, in a straight line and different type face, is marked PURE COIN BOSTON. To the right of this is an eagle mark that I have not seen before. Anyone have ideas? IP: Logged |

Hello Richard! Happy Valentine's Day. Hope you got your chocolates! Lovely cream jug. Just a guess but could the eagle mark be connected in some way to Shreve? Jersey IP: Logged |

Hi Richard, The new MFA Boston catalog of silver shows a set by Rogers & Wendt with a pair of the same eagles. My best guess at this point is that the eagle was a trademark of sorts used by Rogers & Wendt. I have seen other Boston-area holloware from the same period with Wendt-y looking marks and similarly arched retailer stamps. Thin, but I think a decent possibility. Brent IP: Logged |

Brent, I think this is more than a decent possibility. It's the same eagle and I think it is highly probable that this piece was made by Rogers & Wendt. Thanks for the information.
