Adnah Sackett is credited with inventing the machinery for manufacturing the Adelaine chain, and coincidently, James Lancellot formerly of Cranston in Providence, Rhode Island invented a new and useful Improvement in the Method of Making Ornamental Chains from Sheet Metal, Particularly for articles of jewelry. The James Lancellot invention and reissue in this regard were assigned to Sackett, Davis & Co of Providence, Rhode Island. The "Adelaide" chain as it is called in the trade was made by a machine patented by Lauriston Towne of Rhode Island. IP: Logged |
