Unless there is a recent publication with better information, this is a matter of filling in the blank for this gentleman's given name. Cutten and others have a surname only for him. Frank H Winship born about 1825 in Connecticut is listed in the 1850 U S Federal Census Norfolk, Virginia as a watchmaker in Fitch W Brurwell's household. Found again probably at his residence born about 1820 in Massachusetts in the 1850 U S Federal Census for Norfolk, Virginia listed as a watchmaker. Listed in the 1860 U S Federal Census for Murfreesboro, Tennessee as a watchmaker, place of birth Virginia. Listed in the 1870 U S Federal Census for Pulaski, Tennessee as a watch repairer, place of birth Virginia. Listed in the 1880 U S Federal Census for Pulaski, Tennessee as a jeweller, place of birth Virginia. Listed in the Tennessee State Gazetteer and Business Directory for 1860-61 by John L Mitchell, F Winship watchmaker and jeweler, one door above City Hotel in Mufreesboro. I believe that would be Franklin Henry, born 7 Apr 1827 to Leonard and Catherine (Boardman) Winship in Hartford CT. IP: Logged |

I believe it would. That name does get tossed about a bit in reference to old "Frank." IP: Logged |

He married Margaret Elizabeth Hardin, whose father, Alexander McAlpin Hardin, was a big deal lawyer and politician, which probably explains the three lawyers shown in Winship's household in the 1880 census. IP: Logged |

Family members place Frank's birth in Farmington which is where Leonard and family was in 1820 and 1830. [This message has been edited by bascall (edited 06-20-2009).] IP: Logged |
