There was a Daniel O Kingsbury who is credited with being a jeweler, watch repairer and farmer in Jamaica,
Vermont between 1870 and 1885.

Daniel O Kingsbury is in the 1850, '60, '70, and '80 U S Federal Census's for Jamaica, Windham
County, Vermont listed as a farmer.

There was a Daniel Kingsbury who is in the 1870 U S Federal Census for Townshend, Windham County, Vermont listed as a jeweler.

How close is Jamaica to Townshend? Sometimes rural address can float between the larger nearby settlements? The idea of this man being a jeweler, a watchmaker and a farmer isn't at all untoward in Vermont in the 19th century. After all, most colonial silversmiths in non-urban areas had something else going on during the down season for silver--or the down season for farming (winter).

Jamaica and Townshend are about ten miles apart.

This was definitely two different Daniel Kingsbury's though. The Townshend Daniel was probably Daniel P Kingsbury.

Daniel O Kingsbury may have had multiple trades as many like him did. There's just no convincing evidence thus far that I've come across that this is the case.

As a rule for me personally to be persuaded that someone was a silversmith or in a related trade, I like to see it stated so at least twice from separate sources. Even if it's just two different census's.

I probably come across single mentions of individuals in the related trades ten times more often than those with multiple citations.

The towns are 6.5 miles apart.

Daniel P. is in Alstead NH in the 1880 census; Child's Gazetteer of Windham County of 1884 notes Daniel O., farmer and jeweler, living in Jamaica, where he is listed (as a farmer) in the 1880 census.

The gentlemen were, as noted in Carlisle's Vermont, cousins, though distantly at six times.

The Child's Gazetteer of Windham County, 1724 to 1884, Pub 1884 mention of Daniel O Kingsbury's connection to the jewelry trade is all I've seen so far.

With that single mention and Daniel P having been so nearby for a time, it seemed natural that there might have been some confusion (or a coincidence).
