If one of our readers has a copy of Hiatt's Silversmiths of Kentucky, 1785-1850, I would be interested in knowing what exactly is stated about this gentleman's time in Louisville and by what source, if any. The entry is noted, without additional comment, in Boultinghouse, but I have established fairly conclusively that Ayers was in New Lexington Ohio by 1801, when his second child was born there, followed by seven more before 1815. He was still working there in 1821, given a signed deposition I just acquired recording a suit brought by him against Silas and Bethuel Prudden for nonpayment of a $43.75 note dating to 1810. Family members go back and forth about where Ebenezer's children were born between Newburgh, New York and New Lexington, Ohio. Added to that an Ebenezer B Ayers appears in the 1810 census for Newburgh, New York. IP: Logged |
