Some time ago someone had asked something about a piece of silver marked with or had an engraving of a Standing Indian holding a Tomahawk in one hand and what appears to be a bow in the over hand. While searching through the internet for early american coin dies I came across this site. 'machin's 1787 patterns'. Thought it might have some interest to whoever asked the original question. Sorry about the 'something', 'some time ago' and 'someone'. IP: Logged |

Is this the mark you were thinking of?
The dies were cut by Jacob Perkins, using (loosely) the 1787 copper cent as his model.

Above is another image of an early coin whose design may have been done by Jacob Perkins. This one has the Native American holding a bow and arrow. This coin is a 1787 1C Massachusetts Cent. [This message has been edited by ahwt (edited 11-02-2021).] IP: Logged |
