I have a silver spoon, approximately six inches in length. At the top of the handle is a raised design of flowers in and surrounding a basket. The back of the bowl has a design of "rays" in the area where the bowl attaches to the handle. Imprinted on the back of the handle is the name W. C. Dusenberry. Any help will be very much appreciated! IP: Logged |

William C. Dusenberry was a watchmaker in New York City from 1819 to 1834. Watchmakers during this time often added the retailing of jewelry and silverware to give a certain social cache to the more mundane profession of watchmaker. The fact that Dusenberry's name is stamped onto your spoon indicates that his establishment either made it or retailed it or both. By the way, Silver Salon Forums Coin Silver moderator, wev, has put together an outstanding family tree of American silversmiths. He may be interested in a photo of the mark on your spoon.
