I have just inherited a bunch of family silver and am trying to find out about it. I have 4 spoons with the name "G.HELLER" engraved on the back. No other markings. My grandmother had kindly identified it as her grandmother's wedding silver (wedding 1855). I have not been able to find any info on the maker however. Thanks. IP: Logged |

There was a George Heller working in Reading PA from 1820-1860. Where did your Great Grandmother live? A photograph of the mark and one of the spoons would help confirm their origin. IP: Logged |

Thanks. That is probably the right person. That side of the family was from the Pennsylvania/New Jersey area. Would also be about the right time. Will send pictures when I can figure out how to work the new camera. IP: Logged |
