I was thinking of adding another index to my site that would list all those folks for whom I have recorded an example (silver work, tradecard, ephemera, etc). Worth the bother? IP: Logged |

I know I would like it. It does sound like a lot of work. IP: Logged |

If people are interested they can just look up the maker's page to see if there is anything, so it is probably not necessary. It would also be used by ebay sellers and buyers, a plus or minus, depending on your attitude. On the other hand, it might bring you more illustrations of examples, in which case it might be worth the effort. edit: Turns out it was pretty easy. What I am trying to figure out the how of is an index by type -- spoons, canns, tackards, etc. That will take a good deal more work. IP: Logged |

As long as there are links to the pages for the names in the index, that should be good enough - people are too lazy these days - you want to make it too easy. Let them do at least a little work for their information! IP: Logged |

Well, after some trials, it looks like I could do it, but it would get too unwieldy. It also dawned on me that I have the search box, which will get folks close enough. On the plus side, I did find a bunch of typos and inconsistencies to fix. IP: Logged |

Well, that's something to sleep on then. I only wish I had the time and resources to do a proper job of it. IP: Logged |
