Made c 1715 by John Coney and "improved" some time in the mid 19th century. It made around a 10th of its unaltered value. IP: Logged |

All generations have altered the past in one way or the other. In defence of the Victorians it must be remembered that protecting our past was not a great concern until around the Civil War time period. When pieces were protected/cherished it was almost always by the original family members. In addition those families were the wealthy and those items were expensive to begin with so were not routinely disposed of. IP: Logged |
