I spent yesterday afternoon helping a friend try to make sense of boxes of family silver and doing my best to infect her with the silver research virus. Based on a note from her this morning, her symptoms are coming along nicely. We came across some spoons that were fairly clearly marked, but I have been unable to find anything about the makers. One was "B.F. Stevens." The other was "J. Elderhen Jr." I've googled, gone through books and online datebases, including WEV's and have come up with nothing, except a reference to a clock made by B.F. Stevens of South Danvers, Mass. Any thoughts? IP: Logged |

Benjamin Franklin Stevens was a jeweler with a shop at No. 16 Main Street, Peabody MA. His store advertisements state he began there in 1857; he is listed as a watch repairer in the 1880 census. IP: Logged |
