I have been trying to trace out the various partners and partnerships of Jones, Ball & Co, Jones, Ball & Poor, etc. Belden gives the name of the senior partner as George B. Jones; Venable and Rainwater as John B. Jones. Who is right? There were John B. Jones, Senior & Junior, working in Boston 1809-1820 and 1816-1850 respectively. Both had many partners, but no indication that they were connected to the first named firms. On the other hand, I have a George Burr Jones with the same birth and death dates usually given for the partner Jones and living in Boston by 1840. He was closely related to various silversmiths, but I have nothing to say yea or nye to his occupation. Anyone have a thought? IP: Logged |

Just in case there is anyone like myself who is demented enough to look through these archived posts, this one is now completely answered in WEV's build. Demented or not there is a lot of really amazing information in some of the old posts though. IP: Logged |
