[01-1125] I just acquired C AUNSPAUGH teaspoons. Local (VA) collectors tell me this is a Liberty (Bedford) or Fincastle, Virginia smith. There is no listing in Cutten. Any info? Parenthetically, what are the sources for Virginia marks besides the above? Can an unmarked teapot (scalloped body), bright cut -- "Revere" type -- Be identified stylistically by the engraving? Many thanks! IP: Logged |

There is a long awaited book by Cathy Hollan coming out (soon I hope, but I have heard that story before). There is a short catalogue on Alexandria silver. The rest is probably word of mouth. IP: Logged |

There was a merchant and tax collector named Charles Aunspaugh who was born about 1837 in Virginia and lived in Liberty, Bedford County, Virginia. IP: Logged |
