![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Here is an interesting quartet of serving spoons -- two pair by two makers. The first is by Daniel Dupuy and features a lovely dove and olive branch swaged bowl. The second is by a maker unknown to me. It lacks the bird back, has different, but similar bright cut work, and is a shade longer. Here's the mark What is interesting is both have the same (albeit by different hands) monogram featuring a dove and olive branch. M•I is on the left, Dupuy on the right. The oval surrounds are actually the same size, but the Dupuy is strongly downturned and is foreshortened the picture. I suspect the I in the mark stands for J, but I don't see anyone likely in Brix. Any suggestions? IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I knew I'd seen that mark before! His pair are the prototypes then, semi-copied later on by Dupuy, and date to his New York period, before fleeing to Canada. IP: Logged |
