I'm really not sure if this Stock Buckle is American or not. Probably dates to around 1760 to 1780. It only has two marks, a set of initials which could be WB or possibly WR and a very badly damaged mark, which I cannot decipher. Perhaps an over stamping of a rectangular mark by a more irregular one. The under mark may be a Lion Passant, but I doubt it! The makers mark is not recorded for England, and as the buckle was purchased from the USA I wondered if anyone has seen it before please? IP: Logged |
