I received a call from a collector friend of mine who had purchased an American coin marriage spoon from a Providence RI maker. The spoon has two full sets of initials one above the other and his question to me was which of the couple's initials, bride or groom, would be on the top. I couldn't answer him so thought I'd check here. No photo of the spoon is available as my friend is not tech savvy. IP: Logged |

I have some spoons the are have the initials TRF. A coffee pot with the same initials was a 25th wedding present to Rebecca and Thomas Foster in 1803 so in this case the mans initial was put first. If this is any indication of practice the man's name would be on top. [This message has been edited by ahwt (edited 12-03-2021).] IP: Logged |
