. These are sugar tongs by Eugene Jaccard of St. Louis and is marked “Eugene Jaccard & Co. The use of his full first name is unusual as all the other marks I have seen are simply “E. Jaccard” or “E. Jaccard & Co.” Eugene was the nephew of Louis Jaccard and followed his uncle to St. Louis in 1834 from Ste. Croix, Switzerland. From Norman Mack’s book on Missouri’s Silversmiths Eugene added the & Co. after 1853 and the company included A. S. Mermod. IP: Logged |
