Here is a prize that that definitely got away from me. A few years ago, when the biggest purchase I could justify was about 20 dollars, I came across an item that still seems like a figment of my imagination. I was in a large single-owner shop that had a selection of just about everything. Amongst a pile of old silverplate was a silverplate chamberstick that simply amazed me. It seemed to be a novelty Halloween candlestick, with the drip pan in the shape of a bat with outstretched wings! To top that, the stick seemed to have molded stitches in it, like the neck of Frankenstein's monster. I remember it was made by Pairpoint, and that she wanted 25 dollars for it, which I couldn't pay. Of course it disappeared quickly, and I have never seen another like it. I wish I had stretched for it now. I know Pairpoint catalogs have been reprinted, but I haven't actually seen one for a while. Has anyone seen this wonderful chamberstick, or does anyone have a catalog picture? I'd love to know that my memory wasn't that bad! IP: Logged |
