I use to go to a local charity shop, and to my surprise I saw a bic collection of sterling objects being shown in a glass cupboard. They had belonged to an American officer from the Navy. There I had nearly 70 pieces that I bought together. But a man before me had bought the tea and coffe pots. They are all nice, and the collection includes a cigarette box, a sugar pot, the salt and pepper, beatiful napkin rings, bread plates, candelabra, and more. I paid 70000 pesetas, this is about 400 dollars, and I am really delighted with them. IP: Logged |

It is always fun to hear how someone gets interested in silver. Was the officer's collection American silver or from some other country (countries) of origin? What types of silver have you added to the collection and why? Do you actually use any of the silver in everyday life? Have you gotten anyone else interested in silver as a result of your discovery? We've found that with silver, you start with one thing and little by little, you become interested in more and more. IP: Logged |
