Last year I was on a straight thru drive from San Diago Ca. to Wenatchee Wa.. I arrived in Bend Or. in the morning and thought a quick stop at an intriguing garage sale might wake me up. It turned out to be a hall full of tablesand no customers. Looking around quickly as I wanted to keep going I spotted a nice old silverware box and a lot of different piles of silverware. As usual the poorist pieces were priced the highest, $5 each for plated. I did a quick calculatiion and figured they wanted $150 for about 120 or so pieces. I quickly talked her down to $30 dollars for everything. As I got back on the road and started looking at the pieces when I was out of town I noticed a few sterling pieces. I was awake then! I came to find out I had a nice 4place settings of 5 pieces each and a few con silver pieces. A few hours later near Yakima I stopped for coffee at an antique store. The owner saw me looking thru his silver and told me the 2nd hand dealer across the street had just bought a bunch and I might make a deal. I soon had five apple boxes full!! It was lots of hours of fun and I was able to give my daughter and like new 12place setting with all the extra and my son got to choose a 8place setting that matched their theme! ------------------ IP: Logged |
