I purchased an interesting little child's picture frame by Gorham - I believe it is Pewter. The mark on the side says: GORHAM E P YC 158 - The picture frame itself is a humpty dumpty on the left and the letters A through Z framing the picture frame. Thanks from Toy IP: Logged |

The E P stands for Electro Plate, so it is silver plate. It may look like pewter if most of the silver has been polished off; check inaccessible nooks and crannies for remnants ot the silver plate. Depending on the age of the frame, the base metal may be Britannia, which is actually a high grade pewter. IP: Logged |

"YC 158" (or YC158) is what Gorham would have called the production number. Silverplate production numbers with the "Y" prefix were used after World War II. Could the "C" stand for copper? I don't know. IP: Logged |
