Hi, my husband picked up a 35pc flatware set at a sale, it is stamped Wm Rogers MFG co. on the back of each pc, some of them have (I think) a XIV beside the stamp. It is in a wood case with violet velvet material inside in very good condition. The flatware is simple and has what I guess you call a collum with ferns about the middle of the handle. I think he got them for a good price. Is there any where on the web I may be able find a picture to indentify this set? IP: Logged |

William Rogers Mfg. Co. was one of the original companies which joined forces in 1898 to form the International Silver Co. The trade name of Wm. Rogers was used on silverplate flatware for many years. Your silverware is definitely plated. I would suspect that your pieces are marked XII, rather than an XIV. XII, or 12, is a designation of the thickness of the silver plating. Your pieces are of medium quality, not the best available but certainly not the worst. From the description, I suspect your set is from the 20's or 30's, but may be as late as the 50's. If you can give a more detailed description, or post a scan or photo of one pieces, I'm sure we can identify the pattern for you. IP: Logged |
