meriden b company silver piece small looks like a creamer or small tea/coffee vessel. has markings 2267 (hand engraved) above meriden b company trademark. 187 (stamped) below trademark and "PATENTED CCT 24 1865" below that. Has a head figure on top, and another head figure on the handle. Can you tell me anything about this piece? My email is gillandteri@cox.net thank you. IP: Logged |

Your Victorian silverplated (plated on white metal) syrup pitcher was made by the Meriden Britannia Co. in Meriden CT. It was pictured in their 1886 catalog (No. 187) -- price was $4.50. A patent for a cut-off inside syrup pitchers obviated the need for a drip plate. This could be the patent date (probably OCT 24 1865, poorly struck) marked on your pitcher. Hope this helps!
