Can you give me some information about the Derby Silver Plate Co. item I just purchased? It is some kind of container with two handles and a lid. The piece is heavily decorated with flowers. The numbers on the bottom are 1652. Thank you IP: Logged |

I'm afraid I need a lot more info than you've given. How big is it? The number on the bottom was a factory number, indicating the shape or form. It, unfortunately, isn't any help to us. Could this be a covered entree dish, vegetable dish? Tureen (tho' I think you'd know if it was a tureen)? It clearly sounds like something for food service, and the "heavily decorated with flowers" sounds like a Kirk-esque repousse design dating from the 1890-1910 period. IP: Logged |

Derby did use the 1600 series of numbers on tea sets. It could also be a sugar bowl or butter dish. IP: Logged |
