I purchased a coffee, sugar and creamer from an estate sale with the marking Wm. Rogers & Son, Spring Flower. I figured it to be silver plated, but thought it was too pretty to pass up. And at 15.00 for all three plus a silver plated water pitcher which has a marking of a diamond with the letters ASCO in it and the letters E.P.C., I thought it was a great deal. And it would make a great service for entertaining. Can you give me any in sight on these? IP: Logged |

William Rogers & Son was one of billions of Rogers-connected plating firms in Connecticut. From what I can find in Dorothy Rainwater's Encyclopedia of American Silver Manufacturers, the firm by this name only existed for a short while in the lat 1850s and up to about 1871. However, your set being titled "Spring Flower" sounds like a custom dating from later on--so I'd like to see a picture of it to be surer of the date. The ASCO piece probably refers to the American Silver Company, although Rainwater doesn't list that exact trademark. They were founded in 1901 and were absorbed into International Silver in 1935. EPC probably means "Electro-Plated Copper." IP: Logged |
