I have recieved a set of flateware that belonged to my husband's great grandmother and the back of the pieces say: WmRogers* IS. All I can find out is that it is silver plated. The pieces have no design as they are just plain with no pattern. Nobody in my area can appraise them or tell me anything about them and I have been looking all over online for any information about this set. I have settings for 8 people (spoon, fork, stainless steel knife w/ silverplated handle and a serving sppon) as well as a hostess/serving set. I know it was bought from Schaefer and Niederholzer in San Francisco. Can anyone please help?

You seem to have a flatware set from the first half of the 20th century--the IS mark indicates that it was International Silver, which was created by Wm. Rogers as one of the original smaller plating who merged in 1898.

Plain as it is, there was probably a pattern name for this, most likely with a colonial connotation from the title.

Plain electro-plated flatware, no matter how old, has a very small market, because plated wares depend on flashy design to be desirable. A complete set however would be useful, and might have some value in that light. There's no way to tell you the pattern name with out a picture.
