I bought a large rectangular tray with WMRogers mark numbered 791. How could I find how and wether or not to get it restored professionally? Thanks you IP: Logged |

By "restored" you mean re-plated. Finding a good electroplater these days is difficult, because they are fairly toxic businesses and have been closing down in droves recently because of governmental control. Try the yellow pages locally. As to whether or not you should, that entirely depends on the cost of doing so versus the value of the piece itself--either to you, emotionally, or on the market. Original plated surfaces are important for museums when they collected plated objects, but re-plating is deemed acceptable if it restores the aesthetic integrity of an old piece of plate.
