Your "Butler" was made by the Friedman Silver Co. of Brooklyn, NY. They started production in 1908, and were bought out by Gorham in 1960. They appear to have specialized in silverplated holloware. They also made pewter under the trade name "Pilgrim Pewter". Although Friedman may have made some sterling, if your piece is not marked sterling it very likely isn't. Hope this helps!
