Hello to all; I have this Silver Platter which looks like it was just made yesterday. It's about 16" in diameter, with all kinds of inlaid scrolling. The back say it's made by Rogers Bros 1847. It also has the word "Reflections" in cusive. It also has a number stamped: 9272. Can anyone give me a little history on this beautiful plate? What is it's [..snip..]? Thank You; Mike [This message has been edited by Stephen (edited 05-17-2003).] IP: Logged |

Your piece is silverplated. Rogers Brothers is based in Hartford, CT, and they were very prolific. "Reflections" is the pattern name. There was probably flatware that matched. Your platter is probably from the middle of this century or later. Stamping the pattern name on the underside is a hallmark of 20th century manufacture. 9272 is just the model number of the piece. 1847 is found on a lot of Rogers stuff. I think it is when the company was founded. For the piece's value, it is lower than a sterling piece would be. A lot depends on how much demand there is for hollowware in this pattern. You might want to watch eBay in the coming months for similar items. IP: Logged |
