I just started going to flea markets and antique stores. The other day I purchased a 12 1/2" silver plate. The rim of the plate has raised slashes that look like single quotation marks. The next portion has two raised lines around the plate rim. Next is a 1/2" wide section of cutouts of triangles, diamonds, and long very slim oval shapes. The middle of the plate is smooth until you get to the center. The center has a crest. The crest has animals that look like a standing deer, then a shield, then an animal that looks like a standing horse with pointed ears. On top of the shield between the two other animals is the top portion of the body of another animal with pointed ears and muzzle. Under this impression placed inside a wavy swag says, "MAJOR / AB / AVD VERSIS", placed in three separate attached portions of the swag. The back of the plate states - Trademark. Under that is a kings crown with 18 on the left side and 83 on the right side. Beneath that it says F.B. Rogers Silver Co., under that states Silver on Copper, and under that is 1914.

I have looked all over the internet and cannot find any information at all on this plate. Since I'm new at this, I don't know where else to look.

Any information anyone can come up with would be greatly appreciated.

Your plate is silver plate and fairly common. There are numerous posts in these forums about pieces by F.B. Rogers which was a firm in Taunton Massachusetts. If you click on the Search Option and type F.B. Rogers you will find these posts.
