I have a Derby Silver Co urn ,8 1/4" tall and 4" diameter hexagon shape with handels and lid. the # 1683 on the bottom and the word Quad on it too does anyone know when this was made and how much it might be worth ? thanks IP: Logged |

This somehow sounds like an electroplated sugar bowl from a larger service. The company was founded in 1873, but there is no way to date your piece accurately without seeing it. If it is a sugar bowl, it is likely from the 1870s to 1890s. The #1630 on the piece is no help, unless someone has a period catalogue, because it is the shape/form stock number. Although a curator cannot give monetary evaluations, the value of a piece of plated silver is entirely dependent on its style and its condition. IF this is a stand-alone urn, like a presentation urn, with an interesting inscription and good design and condition, it would have some value for those reasons. A lone sugar bowl, unless it was very interesting looking, would be worth less than (obviously!) a whole tea set, and so on. IP: Logged |
