Can anyone help me identify the maker "Leonard"? I just bought avery nice three-piece silverplate tea set bearing this mark and cannot find much info on the 'Net except for one site that listed "Leonard" and "Leonard (China)". Also found an almost identical set on e-Bay with a maker's mark of apparently "Suffolk". Who is copying whom, I wonder, or are they both copying a third? I can post a good photo of the mark if needed. Thanks for anmy help. Dave Talcott IP: Logged |

Hello, Sorry for the delay. The Leonard Silver Manufacturing Co. was founded in 1969 in Boston, MA to market silverplated holloware. Some of their pieces were made by them, and some were made by others but distributed by Leonard. It is therefore possible that the same set might show up with different marks, depending on who sold it originally. The company was sold to Towle Silversmiths in 1978, and Leonard is today a product line for International Silver Company, which was consolidated with Towle in 1990. I hope this helps!
