I have a eight inch silver vase with the mark K S each letter is in a box. in the middle of the K S is another box with some sort of crest. There are numbers 83601 and thats it. It is very fancy with a tavern scene and peasant scenes all over the vase. along with floral designs. It stands 8 1/2 inches high. A on line appraisal failed to prove any info. Help ! IP: Logged |

We really need to see a photo of the marks and vase. will you be posting some? To get things started, does your tavern scene and peasant scenes resemble these? IP: Logged |

I am working at trying to figure out how to add a picture. I am now a registered user so I can email pics to anyone. Thanks for the help Scott. The vase is very similar to the salt and pepper and the tobacco box. Also there is a windmill in the background of one of the pastoral scenes. So it could be Dutch? Thanks Tony IP: Logged |

Could the numbers on the bottom mean silver content? There is a ledge all the way around the top could this have been used for something else. I've got to believe someone out there know's something about the vase. IP: Logged |

I'm afraid I can't offer a conclusive attribution, but I do think this is a piece of American silverplate. There are a few companies that may well have used this mark, including the Knickerbocker Silver Co. of New York. Click on the link for the salt and pepper shakers posted by Scott to see a thread on "Dutch Revival" silver in America. As for the number, it is almost certainly a pattern or model number used by the manufacturer; it is not a designation of silver content. I hope this helps a little!
