My husband's Aunt recently gave us silver place settings with the marking 1835 R.Wallace Sectional Triple on it. Can anyone give us some background on this? IP: Logged |

Your flatware is silverplated. "Sectional" means there is more plate in some spots, such as the heel of the bowl, where wear is more likely to occur. "Triple" is how much plate is on the piece. R. Wallace is a Connecticut company. 1835 is when they first started making spoons; they did not stamp "1835" on pieces until 1897. IP: Logged |

Thanks so much for the information. The place settings are special since the've been passed down in the family. It helps to know the origins. IP: Logged |
