Several years ago I inherited a set of sterling silver and mixed in with it were 6 seafood forks of another pattern. It is marked on the back...in squares..first square has the intials F.G. In the second square are the intials E.P.N.S. and below that is Sheffield, England. If anyone has any information I would really appreciate it! Thanks!

definitely silverplate - ElectroPlate on Nickle Silver.

It reminds me of the six seafood forks that were with my mother's sterling silver.

Ok, well, that makes sense. As you can tell I am no expert at this. lol Can anyone tell me what the F.G. is for? Is it the manufacturer? Would that possibley tell me how old this set of forks are? The set of sterling silver that it was mixed up in is the Joan of Ark pattern from International Silver. I have no idea how old it is and was thinking maybe if I knew when the forks were made it might give me a clue as to how old this sterling is. Or is there a way I'm not aware of in finding out how old this set of sterling is? Thanks again! smile

Joan of Arc by International Silver Company was first produced in 1940. The JC/K Index for 1988 listed it as an "active" pattern.
