i found a small silver bowl. on the bottom it says- a picture of a small heart, and below that "reed & barton 2800" it has a little wear and tear but still looks good.how old is it? is it worth anything? how do i found out? IP: Logged |

Hello Jim, Your bowl is American silverplate; if it were sterling, it would be marked as such. The heart is a Reed & Barton date marking; they used a different symbol each year from 1928 to 1957 on all of their holloware (bowls, cups, plates, vases, etc.) The heart is the date mark for 1956. So, your bowl is silverplated, from 1956, and has some wear and tear. We do not give valuations on these forums, but I'm afraid I can tell you that your bowl probably has little value.
