This is my last question, I promise. My mother in law thanks for the history on her silver pieces. The design is grapes and leaves, mark has crescent in script, mark on either side of C. Also included photo of cup. Thanks ------------------ PAT IP: Logged |

I assume the question is 'what is the company?' It is the Cresent City Silver Company, founded in New York City in 1922, moved to Port jervis in 1939. Originally, they made pewter, silverplate, and chromeplate wares, but settled on silverplate alone in 1935, manufacturing nearly 500 items. They took over the Knickerbocker Silver Company and were in turn taken over by Samuel Kirk & Sons in 1977. Don't stop asking questions. IP: Logged |

I do have another question. If Samuel Kirk & Sons took over in 1977, did they keep the Crescent City mark? I am trying to date this punch bowl set. ------------------ IP: Logged |

As a post script to my last question, I found out that my mother in law has had the punch bowl set for at 25 years, but not sure how old it is before that. Do you know when the Crescent mark was not used anymore? ------------------ IP: Logged |
