I have a muffineer/sugar shaker that I have had no success in identifying the maker. It is not marked sterling however I have always assumed that it was The only mark is on the long flange on the top that fits into the bottom piece. It is maked E.C.P. in an oval. Under the oval is an asterick type mark with four longer lines pointing up from the center and three shorter lines pointing down from the center. Any help in finding the maker would be appreciated ------------------ IP: Logged |

Hi, Is the C larger than the E and P? If so, it could stand for ElectroPlate on Copper. Alternatively, the C may be the company's initial, with E and P still standing for electroplate. Reagrdless, the marks do sound like those found on English silverplate. Get a magnifier and check the foot carefully; if you see any base metal wearing through, then it is definitely silverplate. A picture would be very helpful, if you can manage it. Still, my instincts tell me that your piece is silverplate. I hope this helps! Brent IP: Logged |
