[21-0303] I'd love help figuring what this Spoon or ladle is for. It was bought in France and is unmarked, but polishes and tarnishes like silver or plate. The 2" bowl is pierced with jagged "teeth" at the end and the bowl is tilted like a ladle. I could not photograph the whole length of the handle which is 7 1/2" long. Merci!

The pictures did not come through yet. However, there is an implement for serving spaghetti which in my imagination resembles what you are describing. ------------------ IP: Logged |

I'm guessing it's some kind of a bar spoon. IP: Logged |

Perhaps the teeth are to scrape sugar or lemon/orange peel into something? IP: Logged |

Thanks for the reply... I've hit a dead end with these things... and I have another item that's very similar, so they must have some usefulness here.I just acquired these at a "Brochante" - which is not an antique show and not a flea market, but a nicely organized and pleasant middle ground of the two. When I ask the use, I get a friendly shrug and smile and then the guesses begin. I spent the day yesterday researching spoons, ladles and barware. Today I'll check into other kinds of stirrers and "scraping" implements. Thanks for the suggestion! ------------------ IP: Logged |

Today, I was told "absolument" by a dealer, that this is used for ice, with the teeth to break the cubes apart if they've frozen together and then the pierced spoon to transfer the cubes to a glass. Could be! ------------------ IP: Logged |
