I have a wonderful serving ladle that is marked Christofle, alfe nide, also has a stamp of a scale with 2 stars above and a "C" on either side. Not having any luck finding marks in ref. books. A friend has a serving set (fork and spoon) - same marks! Think it is American, looking for info on mftr. thanks all! IP: Logged |

In France, Christofle has been a leader in the "Arts de la Table" since its creation in Paris in 1830 and its appointment as purveyor of King Louis-Philippe and the Emperor Napoleon. Christofle has been the silversmith of choice for generations of French families, countless estates, embassies, many luxury hotels and corporate dining rooms, and ocean liners, (the most famous of all, the Normandie ocean liner, for which Christofle created more than 40,000 pieces of silverware). After more than 150 years many Christofle designs are still in production. They design all in Christofle's own creative studio, and inspired by its rich collection of archives. Christofle is today distributed in more than 120 countries. The House of Christofle operates more than 50 Pavilion Christofle shops around the world. Christofle IP: Logged |

I like spoons with interesting monograms or inscriptions. Yesterday, I bought a Christofle place spoon which feels like silver plate. It is marked with "421 ??? CHRISTOFLE". The "???" is quite a bit like the mark shown in a previous reply under the picture of the workshop. The pattern is very much like Gorham Threaded or Threaded Antique. On the front of the spoon is "Wiggele", and on the back is "8.3.1934". I'm guessing it's from a hotel or restaurant, but I wouldn't expect to find an inscribed date on such ware. Any ideas about the name of the pattern? ------------------ IP: Logged |

Could the "421" be a pattern number? IP: Logged |
