I have a fairly ornate Middletown Plate Co dish/plate (candy dish, for want of a better description), 7"x12", marked with scales and the number 321. The dish itself is in very good condition, however, there is very little plating left. I know that this belonged to my grandmother and perhaps her mother. Should I have this replated or not? Can anyone give me an estimate of its worth? Pictures of this dish can be viewed at: http://www.texaspepper.com/middletown/plate.htm Alton Newman IP: Logged |

The Middletown Plate Co of Middletown, Connecticut started business in the middle of the 19th century adn eventually was incorporated into the Interntional Silver Co. I would not replate it unless you plan to use it for holding food items. No info of possible value. You would need to find a qualified appraiser in your area. The bowl is a typical item of this era and it is always wonderful to have them handed down to the heirs. Enjoy. IP: Logged |
