It was made in Derby (Birmingham), Connecticut or Meriden, Connecticut. Does anyone know when a "Derby SP Company" mark was used? [This message has been edited by Stephen (edited 03-30-2003).] IP: Logged |

We've seen the Derby SP Co used in conjunction with the International S. Co. mark. Derby became part of International in 1898. See prior thread: http://www.smpub.com/ubb/Forum21/HTML/000294.html Photos would help. IP: Logged |

Actually, the Derby Silver Co. factory was in Shelton, which was once called Birmingham. Just to confuse things, Derby was also once called Birmingham. In any event, Derby items weren't made in Derby. "Derby SP Co." marks (half-circle marks) were used during and after the twenties, I can't find a "Derby SP Company" mark -- I'm not sure which mark the original post is referring to or whether it is described correctly. There are sixteen other posts on "Derby" in this forum -- and we're not talking hats. IP: Logged |
