I am deeply ignorant about silver--but am having fun with a silverplate flatware auction I'm running on ebay, so when I saw this set (I'm not even sure it's tea--it has a hinged lid to the pot) I picked it up--I'm still polishing it, so I haven't taken pics of it yet, but here's a picture of the hallmarks on the bottom

It's Georgian in shape (pear? is that right?) and has lion's paw legs.

It's very heavy--I'm assuming it's European because of these marks--US silver would have maker's names on it, I think.

I've not had any luck searching online sites for info and my library has very little in the way of books on silver so I'm hoping you all will be kind and enlighten me.

Teapots of many different shapes were produced during the Georgian (1714-1830) years, and pear shaped teapots were produced before, during, and after that time. So, the pear shape really isn't an indication of that period. Electro-plated wares weren't manufactured until the 1840s, and although you may have a "Georgian style" teapot, it can't be a "Georgian" teapot.

Without a photo of the set, I would guess that the marks (not hallmarks) are American (undocumented), designed to look English. They don't look like English marks. Photos might help, even if the pieces aren't polished. There's always the possibility that they are something other than American or English.
