I searched all through a matching service trying to find the name of this pattern. I like it and am interested in maybe finding more pieces. By looking at it, I'm thinking it is 1920-1930. IP: Logged |

I noticed that, I was able to pull up the link by pasting it into another browser. I'm gonna have to find some other place to put pictures at. Susan [This message has been edited by Stephen (edited 05-10-2003).] IP: Logged |

If you can tall us what the marks on the back are and describe the pattern, we might be able to figure it out without a photo. (Sometimes yes, sometimes no.) What makes you think it is 1920-1930? IP: Logged |

All it says on the back is Oneida ltd. At the end there is a circular form that is divided by two very fluid lines (reminds me of art nouveau) and inside the central third is a circle which is cut in half vertically. The left side is solid. On the right side are lines that radiate out like lines on a globe....hey maybe it came from an airline??? Have there been custom items designed for first class service like that? Thanks for the help! [This message has been edited by Stephen (edited 05-12-2003).] IP: Logged |

Your description of the pattern doesn't match anything in the pattern references that I have. Your description sounds more like a logo. A photo could still help to identify the pattern itself. Oneida was a big supplier of "hotel" ware. They made silverplated flatware and holloware for American, United, TWA, Delta, CP Air, etc. There are more than 1200 airline logos -- the "aerosite airline logos" web page might be a good place to start your search. Then there are railroads, shipping lines, hotels, etc. etc. etc. You may be on the right track, so to speak. IP: Logged |

Thanks, well, it's no airline, but I bet you are right, the estate that I got these at was probably a "well travelled" individual with sticky fingers. Do you know of a site with hotel logos? I'm off on another search now though, one to find a place that will host my pictures, and two to find some of the history of a sterling silver spoon by J.B. Hudson. Why do I end up with obscure things? THANKS [This message has been edited by Stephen (edited 05-12-2003).] IP: Logged |

Sorry, I know more about Hudson than I do about hotel logo web sites -- but you might want to post the Hudson question in the General Silver Forum. IP: Logged |
