I have two pieces of Silverplate that I am trying to find out info on. Both pieces are marked on their pedistal bases with "Meriden Brit'a Company 1835" - one is a coffee/tea pot, the other appears to be a rather large covered sugar bowl. Any assistance in identifying these pieces would be appreciated. Thank you, Lydia IP: Logged |

They were made by the Meriden Britannia Co. of Meriden, Connecticut. There are many, many, many posts in this forum about the company. If you're interested in learning more about the company, you might want to search on "Meriden". The 1835 is a catalog number. I don't have that particular catalog, but perhaps one of the other forum members does. If not, you can always post a photo and it might be possible to give you more information as to when your pieces were made. Hope this helps. IP: Logged |
