I have a water pitcher, never used, still in the original box and tag attached to the handle ... made by the National Silver Company of Italy. There is a brand name on the box of 'Tarleton' and it looks like 60's or 70's. The silver spout, neck and handle are 'pewterized silver' according to the box. National Silver Co., National Silver Industries, Inc. was acquired by Towle Mfg. Co. In 1990 Towle Mfg. Co. was purchased by Syratech Corporation which also owns Wallace Silversmiths and International Silver Company brand names. In recent years it has become more economical for companies to import their silver. So I suppose the Italy mark may mean recent manufacture. Try contacting Syratech and see what they have to say:
